People are key assets to your business. At the start, you and your potential co-founder are the only assets that your company has, but once you start growing, your people assets will also grow. People assets are your team members, your suppliers, and just like when building your audience assets – your strategic partners become people assets.
Your People Assets
When developing people assets, think about the following
- You are the most important asset to your company, but it does not mean that you should be doing everything. You need to nurture your own strength and wellbeing as the leader, so you have capability to be the captain your ship needs
- When adding new team members, focus on the responsibilities first. Each new team member should be seen as an investment, not a cost.
- If your team is not performing at the level you desire, you need to make changes. These changes are sometimes quite hard, but part of your leadership.
